In a move aimed at strengthening the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chances in the upcoming elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer, has named Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, as his running mate.
The decision, which was made after consultation with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday evening, is seen as a strategic choice that leverages Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s wealth of experience in politics and governance.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, a 56-year-old medical doctor and seasoned politician, has served as a member of Parliament for the Manhyia South Constituency since 2008 and has held various portfolios, including Minister of Education. His expertise in the health and education sectors is expected to complement Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and bolster the NPP’s campaign.
This development marks a significant milestone in the NPP’s preparations for the elections, and political analysts predict that the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket will be a formidable force in the political landscape.
