Dr. Love Konadu commemorates 20 years with a health walk and other events

In Obuasi, more than 2,000 people attended a health walk and health screening to commemorate the 20th birthday of renowned radio host Dr. Love Konadu.

The AngloGold Ashanti Health Foundation and the Mama Love Foundation funded the events, which were attended by members of the security services, youth organizations (Obuasi Parliament), fan clubs, hairdressers, and beauticians.

Both occasions drew a sizable crowd. The morning’s events were kicked off by a walk that started at 6:30 and ended at 8:30. The 8-kilometer walk, which was supported by a brass band from the Methodist church brigade band, passed through several of Obuasi’s principal streets before coming to a finish at the AGA Clubhouse.

One of the first female voices in Obuasi and the Ashanti Region was Dr. Love Konadu, who is currently the host of the “Afternoon Jam” show on the Obuasi-based Time 96.9 FM.
In 2003, she started her radio career as a newscaster at Shaft FM, the city of Obuasi’s first privately owned radio station. Since then, she has worked in a number of on-air positions, including event organizer, secretary, morning show host, drive-time host, and brunch host.
Hundreds of guests were treated to a range of delights, including Hausa Koko,, tea, fufu, banku and okro stew, jollof rice, and yam and garden eggs stew, later in the day, when the AGA Clubhouse courtyard was nearly at a halt.
The food fair drew visitors who came with their bowls to enjoy the festivities. It was sponsored by Dela
King, Osei Akwasi Boakye Enterprise, and El-Shaddai.
Dr. Affection Konadu expressed her gratitude for the attendance in a media interview, saying it was evidence of the affection the people of Obuasi have shown her for the previous 20 years.
She stated, “I have always supported responsible journalism. “Our populace is intelligent and always supports ethical media. The only way to remain relevant in the media industry is to practice ethical journalism, which I strongly encourage all of my colleagues to do, especially the young ones.
Dr. Love Konadu is well-known for her work as a singer, a reverend pastor, and an ambassador for the Obuasi Sikakrom Association. She has also carved out a place for herself as a philanthropist who uses her Mama Love Foundation to improve the lives of adolescents, women, and vulnerable people of society.
The primary goals of the health screening, according to Dr. Anim, Executive Director of the AngloGold Ashanti Health Foundation, were to check people for various diseases and to educate them about their health.
He claimed that lifestyle disorders like diabetes and hypertension were the main focus. He claimed that in addition to voluntary HIV testing, they also monitored blood sugar levels, checked blood pressure, measured body mass index, and examined eyes.
In order to promote optimal health and lower the prevalence of non-communicable diseases, nutrition and lifestyle changes were also covered in health education, according to Dr. Anim.
He said, “We ought to treat our own preventive health as seriously as we treat our automobiles.” Let’s have routine exams because they will enable us to spot ailments early and receive the right care or manage them.
Customers expressed their delight about taking part in the celebrations for Dr. Love Konadu. They complimented her for having a beneficial influence on the lives of the residents of Obuasi through her radio shows and for her longevity in the radio industry.
