IMF deal won’t affect LEAP, other social protection programmes – Ofori-Atta
Ken Ofori-Atta, the finance minister, has emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritize the welfare of the most disadvantaged members of society.
Mr. Ofori-Atta stated the following during a joint press conference on Thursday regarding the country’s $3 billion bailout package held by the Government of Ghana and the International Monetary Fund: “We will guarantee that we safeguard the defenseless.”
The government has implemented specific measures to strengthen social protection programs and allocate additional resources to key initiatives in order to demonstrate this commitment.
One eminent improvement featured by the Money Pastor is the expanded asset envelope for the school taking care of program.
The government intends to double the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program in addition to the school feeding program.
The poorest households in Ghana receive cash transfers directly to help them meet their basic needs and improve their livelihoods.
The Finance Minister emphasized that there is no cause for alarm and reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to protecting the vulnerable.
He said President Nana Addo Dankwak Akufo-Addo has clarified that the assurance of weak gatherings won’t be compromised.
Stéphane Roudet, the IMF Mission Boss for Ghana, recognized the meaning of social security programs in the country’s monetary structure.
Roudet emphasized that one of the primary goals of the IMF collaboration is to ensure the creation and expansion of such initiatives.
