Supporters of Kennedy Agyapong in the Central Region’s Awutu Senya East district have vowed to boycott Saturday’s elections if the voter album, which they think has been tampered with, is not restored.
In an interview with Citi News on Friday, Bernard Danquah, Convener for Kennedy Agyepong supporters, said, “We realized that national had made one or two mistakes.” So we informed National that this record could not be used… But they republished the old album about which we had complained, and they admitted that we were correct… As a result, we have decided that this album cannot be used.”
“…We are pleading with national to have this fixed by tomorrow.” We don’t want anything horrible to happen, so we’re begging them to do what’s necessary, what’s right, so that we may have free and fair elections. But if we can’t get it that way, I’m worried about what will happen tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has told the public that it will be adequately prepared to preserve law and order during the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer contest on Saturday, November 4.
Over 200,000 delegates from across the country are anticipated to vote in the election to choose an NPP candidate for the 2024 general elections.
The Police Service stated that appropriate security will be provided during and after the polls in a statement signed by its director, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi.
The GPS also reaffirmed its commitment to working with election partners to “guarantee peace, security, law and order during the election.”
