Kwabena Duffuor withdrew his lawsuit against the NDC primaries because of this.

The legal action brought against the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s internal elections scheduled for Saturday, May 13, was withdrawn, according to the campaign team of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, an NDC flagbearer candidate.

The lawsuit was dropped, according to the Duffuor camp, after guarantees from the NDC’s Council of Elders and many stakeholders vowing to resolve earlier issues voiced.

However, according to the team, Dr. Duffuor is still devoted to ensuring that the NDC enters the primaries with a reliable voter list.

During an interview with Citi News, Dr. Duffuor’s spokesperson, Antonio Edem Asinyo, stated: “As you are aware, since the lawsuit was filed, several stakeholders engaged Dr. Duffuor, and an assurance was given that some Council of Elders will engage him to be able to resolve the issues of concerns about the photo album. Accordingly, Dr. Duffuor agreed peacefully to withdraw the complaint so that we could settle the matter internally. But he is devoted to making sure that the NDC has a respectable album before the election. We hope and pray that the concerns voiced will be addressed,” he said.

He went on to say that they resorted to court because “the party ignored several letters we wrote to resolve our concerns. He ran out of internal resources, therefore someone must have taken a nap at work. Although Dr. Duffuor is not a cruel person, he is a successful individual who should not be disregarded.

The Electoral Commission on Wednesday postponed its oversight of the election due to the injunction request made by Dr. Duffour’s team that was initially set to be considered on Monday, May 15. As a result, the NDC primaries on May 13 were in limbo.

In his writ, Dr. Duffuor expressed concerns regarding, among other things, alleged irregularities in the party’s electoral roll, which justified his action.

However, the former Finance Minister abandoned his lawsuit on Friday in order to settle the problems internally. The case was subsequently dismissed by the court.

In preparation for the 2024 elections, the NDC is now anticipated to move on with its primaries on Saturday, May 13, to choose a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates.
