A car mishap at the abandoned Larabanga section of the Fufulso-Sawla highway close to Larabanga in the Savannah Region claimed the life of a level 200 student from the Damongo Agricultural College in the West Gonja Municipality.
According to authorities in Damongo, three additional occupants who allegedly suffered minor injuries were also transported to the Upper West Regional Hospital with the body.
The vehicle’s license number had already been covered up by the time our news crew got there.
Since then, it has been towed to the Savannah Regional Police Department’s main office for additional inquiry.
In the meantime, a college source informed Avenue Hub Multimedia that the deceased, only known as Gafaru, was one of two students requested to go with a tutor to a funeral at Banda Nkwanta in the Bole District. Gafaru was a native of Wa in the Upper West Region.
“A College tutor requested them to accompany him because he recently lost a family member in a car accident at Banda Nkwanta. However, the road was poor on the Larabanga side, and one of the car’s tires just burst and somersaulted, killing Gafaru instantly, the person said.
The car, a brand-new Toyota pickup, served as the principal of the college’s official transport.
Avenue Hub Multimedia has not yet confirmed whether the principal of the school was in the same car when the mishap occurred.
Additionally, it is claimed that the driver of the car at the time of the incident was one of the students who regularly takes the Principal to and from school, despite the fact that the school has three designated drivers.
