Minority must be blamed for Akufo-Addo’s bloated govt size – Ablakwa fumes

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has criticized his colleagues for justifying the number of government appointees by approving six Ministerial nominees.

The remark comes after the Presidency released a report on the number of employees at the White House.

The workforce has grown from 934 in 2020 to 995 in 2021 and 1048 this year.

The North Tongu legislature believes that rejecting the new nominees would have sent a strong message to the government about the magnitude of the protest.

“I am confident that if all 136 of us had voted to reject those new eight appointees last Friday, March 24, President Nana Addo would not have had the courage to do this.” In that sense, I’m forced to blame some of my coworkers, the traitors among us who brought us here.”

“Because we’re basically emboldening this President by telling him that he can do whatever he wants because allies in the opposition will continue to cheer you on in secret.” We will continue to support your cruel policies. And I am deeply pained, horrified, and hurt by some of our colleagues’ treachery.”

According to a document submitted to Parliament by the President’s Office, the Presidency employs 1048 people in various administrative and domestic roles.

Section 11 of the Presidential Office Act of 1993 mandated the submission of the report to Parliament (Act 463).

The report covers three key areas: the number of Presidential Staff employed at the President’s Office during the period, their ranks and grades, and employees of other Public Services assigned to the President’s Office.
