NDC can never be afraid of Bawumia; I’ll even beat him in an election – Mustapha Gbande

Mustapha Gbande, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) deputy general secretary, has brushed off claims that the party is worried about a 2024 election between vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former president John Mahama.

He claims that the NDC is unconcerned if the Vice President is chosen as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer.

Mr. Gbande claimed on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem that he could defeat Dr. Bawmia in any election.

“We are aware that he is the establishment’s choice. Dr. Bawumia cannot ever be feared by the NDC. I could even defeat him in an election. What sort of credibility does he possess? Without credibility, you cannot win an election, he boasted.

Political observers have predicted that the 2024 election, which is expected to feature a runoff between Dr. Bawumia and former President Mahama, would be difficult since the economist would be a significant obstacle for the NDC in their bid to regain power.

With a total of 629 votes, or 68.15% of the vote, Dr. Bawumia won the NPP Super Delegates’ Conference with a resounding victory.

He’s already expected to win the November 4 presidential primaries by a wide margin, according to some.

If the vice president prevails in the primaries, Mr. Mahama will be his opponent in the 2024 elections.

However, Mustapha Gbande claimed that Dr. Bawumia winning the NPP would be the end of the NDC.

He explained that because the Vice President is responsible for the current economic crisis, Ghanaians will not elect him in 2024.
