One person trapped in collapsed storey-building at Madina
At Madina in the Greater Accra Region, a storey-building that was under construction has collapsed, trapping one person inside.
Following the incident on Monday, three more people were hurt and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Francis-Xavier Sosu, a member of parliament representing Madina, verified the incident to Eyewitness News.
As there is no equipment to help with the rescue operations, officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Police Service are struggling to free the trapped person from the rubble.
The three-story structure that fell was not far from Kpogas Furniture, the Adentan Footbridge, the intersection of the SDA Church, and the West African Hardware Company.
The legislator is therefore pleading with kindhearted folks who own excavators to come to their aid right away.
The only excavator they had at 37, according to the NADMO officer, had broken down. We are currently waiting impatiently for assistance as we desperately need to rescue one individual from beneath this wreckage. Because it is so disappointing, what is happening doesn’t seem to be an emergency, he begged.
The security guards’ sole choice while on the scene is to perform the tasks using shovels and hacksaws.
