The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University Of, Education Winneba, Ajumako has responded to concerns raised by some students regarding the inaccessibility of the university’s Wi-Fi and the delay in course registration for the first semester of the 2022/2023 academic year.
In a statement released by the SRC, they noted that after several engagements with the IT department of the university, it was discovered that the student numbers (index numbers) used by the level 100’s and 200’s had been changed. The new numbers created are the ones recognized by the system controlling the affairs of the university. The IT department explained that it takes the “New Student Number” for students to have access to the Wi-Fi. The SRC was assured that the new student numbers would be released to the affected students within the next week to enable them to gain access to the Wi-Fi.
The SRC also addressed the issue of delays in course registration, stating that it was a challenge faced by all students of the university and not just those on their campus. Management explained that the delay was due to the transitional process of the academic site from ITS to OSIS. The SRC urged all students to exercise patience and look forward to the transitional team as they work on the course for a smooth registration process.
Hon. Opoku Dickson, the SRC General Secretary, Hon. Nyarkoh Patrick, the SRC P.R.O, and H.E. Sylvia M. Fiadzo, the SRC President, endorsed the statement.
The SRC statement would bring relief to affected students, who had been grappling with the challenges of accessing the university’s Wi-Fi and delays in registering for courses. The SRC has assured students that the issue is being addressed, and measures are being put in place to resolve them as quickly as possible.
