The new Hyundai Sonata features a radical redesign and a high-tech interior.

It makes its Japanese counterparts appear pretty dated.

After the Korean automaker unveiled the updated mid-size sedan late on Sunday, the new Hyundai Sonata certainly belongs in the category of dramatic makeovers. This radical revamp is a huge advance over the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, which now seem downright mundane in comparison. Even the recently announced, brand-new 11th-generation Accord seems extremely conservative in comparison.

Although the Sonata’s future is still uncertain, this redesign highlights Hyundai’s dedication to the mid-size sedan market. However, the Sonata has garnered attention in more ways than just the styling department. It also boasts a curved display similar to those found in the most recent BMW models, marking the first time a Hyundai has incorporated such a feature.

The BMW Z3 M Roadster is a desirable sportscar from the current era.
The huge Ioniq 7 electric SUV features the Signature Horizon Lamp, which spans the entire width of the car’s face, as the centerpiece of the new exterior design. In comparison to the pre-facelift model that debuted in 2019, the sedan has a considerably more confident, futuristic appearance thanks to a large grille and concealed headlamps. Due to the more obvious character of the company’s performance vehicles, Hyundai claims that the exterior as a whole is “N Line-based.” The sides of the N Line have a black garnish that climbs gradually toward the back, and it has custom 19-inch alloy wheels.
New H-lights with a less fussy appearance have taken the place of the outgoing model’s characteristic wraparound, curving rear lighting, and they are supplemented by a notably broad third center brake light at the top of the back window. Further sporty accents on the N Line include a rear spoiler and dual twin-tip mufflers.

The new panoramic curved display in the cockpit smoothly blends two 12.3-inch displays, one for the infotainment system and one for the gauge cluster. New touch-type climate controls are also available, which Hyundai claims emphasize a far more high-tech layout. That is true, however we do hope that the usability of these contemporary controls has not been compromised.
New interior color schemes and a column-style shift-by-wire controller positioned behind the steering wheel, which frees up storage space in the center console, are additional cabin improvements.

The new Sonata will have the same base 2.5-liter engine producing 191 horsepower, provided the powertrains remain the same, according to Hyundai, which did not provide any other information. A hybrid model and the 1.6-liter turbo with 180 and 290 horsepower, respectively, should follow. Gas mileage may also increase, as Hyundai claims the new aerodynamic exterior enhances efficiency. Rumor has it that the range will also include an all-wheel-drive option.

It won’t be long until we learn more about the significantly modified Sonata; a global debut will occur on March 30.
