Thousands attend Texas demonstration with the slogan “God, guns, and Trump”

Donald Trump blasted the numerous criminal investigations that have dogged him since he left office in January 2021 in his first public appearance since speculating a week ago that he would soon be arrested.

The former president referred to the New York City probe into hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels as an expletive while speaking to thousands of supporters at an airfield event in Waco, Texas.

He began by saying, “The district attorney of New York is investigating me for something that is not a crime, not a misdemeanor, not an affair, under the auspices and control of the ‘department of injustice’ in Washington, DC.

He claimed that every aspect of his personal, professional, and financial lives had been “turned upside down and examined,” but he insisted that he was “the most innocent guy in our nation’s history.”

Trump has been posting increasingly ominous pronouncements on his social media website over the past week about “death and destruction” if he were to be charged, but he refrained from making any such gloomy predictions during his speech. And earlier, on a beautiful afternoon in Waco, Texas, the event had a carnival-like vibe similar to Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign rallies.

Hundreds more admirers of the former president browsed around Trump goods tents and bought t-shirts with the slogans “God, guns, and Trump” and “Trump won.” Later, hours before Mr. Trump’s private aircraft was expected to touch down, they flocked to the asphalt tarmac of the nearby airport.
They endured the heat while listening to tunes by Bon Jovi, Frank Sinatra, and Abba being played over the loudspeakers, and they roared as a long list of recognizable Trump backers took turns energizing the audience.

Rock star Ted Nugent sang the US national anthem on his electric guitar in what was billed as a “fire-breathing” performance. However, he was cut off by an obscenity-laced tirade in which he attacked the “jack-booted thugs” in the federal government for wrongfully detaining Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who will decide in the coming days whether to indict Mr. Trump, was the target of harsh criticism from Congressmen Matt Gaetz of Florida and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.

According to Greene, “this attack is an inexcusable weaponization of our legal system intended to affect the 2024 presidential election.” President Trump is absolutely innocent, and this investigation against him is nothing more than a witch hunt.
As Mr. Bragg’s name was mentioned, there were some boos from the gathering, which the Trump team predicted would number 15,000, but few people appeared overly worried by the New York inquiry.

Debbie Harvey of the Texas town of Midlothian, which is close to Dallas, remarked, “I don’t listen to the nasty stuff. “I’m hoping that he’s not charged. Even now, God answers petitions.

According to Brian Novie, who resides in adjacent Copperas Cove, “there doesn’t seem to be much to it.” And right now, it appears like they are debating whether to file charges at all.

Harvey and Novie purchased commemorative t-shirts that said, “Trump in Texas: I was there – where were you?” when they attended their first Trump rally. They said that they were sticking with Mr. Trump despite the probable wide range of options in the Republican primary elections of 2024.

Tarner noted that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Mr. Trump’s most formidable competitor, had not yet shown that he could function on a national level, adding, “He’s demonstrated he can get things done.”

Many media outlets and Trump detractors had questioned why the former president was holding his first large-scale rally of the 2024 campaign in Waco, where federal and state authorities had engaged in an armed standoff with the Branch Davidian religious cult 30 years prior that resulted in the deaths of 86 people.
An anti-government movement in the US was sparked by this occurrence because federal law enforcement personnel were widely referred to as “jack-booted thugs,” in the words of Nugent.

Such ties, according to Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, were “false news” and an expletive.

He stated, “I chose Waco. “The president called me a few weeks ago and announced that he was traveling to Texas. Please select a wonderful town.

The early evening arrival of the president’s jet was marked by the dramatic airfield landing that became synonymous with his presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020. As the theme tune from the movie Top Gun, Danger Zone, blared over the loudspeakers, the new “Trump Force One” circled the airport. On the stage, a speed-painter painted an image of the former president looking sullen.

The portrayal of the former president’s troubled mood in the piece turned out to be an accurate forecast of that mindset. It was obvious that his legal issues – and potential impending arrest – were top of mind, even if he would eventually highlight his record and make promises about a bright future for America if he is elected.
